Summer Homework

We are excited to announce that all students and teachers will be reading the same book this summer! The book, Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Patillo Beals, is a true story about a girl who perseveres when life for her becomes very challenging. Stay tuned to learn more about Melba and her story from the teachers you will have next year!

Enrollment Information

Process
UP Academy Boston is a tuition-free, public school open to all Boston scholars who are incoming 6-8th graders. In our first academic year, students formerly enrolled in the Patrick F. Gavin Middle School were guaranteed admission into UP Academy Boston. Today, UP Academy Boston enrolls students through a random, city-wide lottery as required by Massachusetts law. An application is needed to enter the UP Academy Boston lottery, but no test scores, grades, recommendations, or history will be taken into consideration.

Application
Applications are now LIVE for the 2018-19 school year. To enroll your child, you can:

  1. Click here to fill out an online application OR
  2. Download and submit the application below via mail, in-person, email, or fax.

 Applications for UAB's next lottery are due by Friday, July 27th, 2018 at 4PM. The lottery will be held on Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 at 5:00pm.

If you are also interested in applying to a Commonwealth charter school, there is a separate online application that allows you to apply for one or more children to multiple schools at once.
