Enrollment Information

Process
UP Academy Boston is a tuition-free, public school open to all Boston scholars who are incoming 6-8th graders. In our first academic year, students formerly enrolled in the Patrick F. Gavin Middle School were guaranteed admission into UP Academy Boston. Today, UP Academy Boston enrolls students through a random, city-wide lottery as required by Massachusetts law. An application is needed to enter the UP Academy Boston lottery, but no test scores, grades, recommendations, or history will be taken into consideration.

Application

Applications are now LIVE for the 2019-20 school year. To enroll your child, you can:

  1. Click here to fill out an online application OR
  2. Download and submit the application below via mail, in-person, email, or fax.

Applications are due by Friday, March 1st, 2019 at 4PM. The lottery will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 at 5pm.

If you are also interested in applying to a Commonwealth charter school, there is a separate online application that allows you to apply for one or more children to multiple schools at once.   • Half Day for Students and Staff: Friday, September 21st (dismissal at 11:15 am) 
  • Cool Kicks Day: Friday, September 28th. Students can wear any sneakers of their choice along with their school uniforms.

UP Academy Holland is a tuition-free, public school open to all Boston scholars who are incoming K1-5th graders. No application is required to enroll at UP Academy Holland. For additional information on enrollment at UP Academy Holland, please call the Boston Public Schools at (617) 635-8015 or visit a BPS Welcome Center.
